Suri HEARTS Australian fashion

I apologise for the minimal posting of late - I am finally back online tonight as we have just moved to our beautiful new farm and I have spent the last week packing and unpacking boxes, cleaning the new house, organising tradesmen and adjusting the girls to their new schedule. It is safe to say we all love it out here - it is so peaceful and pretty. It sounds so cliched but we are awoken every morning by a family of kookaburras - so very Australian! Speaking of all things Australian, I have been catching up on all things Suri from my friend Vania's website Suri Cruise Italia and it appears that Katie & Suri spent alot of time during their stay here in Australia shopping up big with some of our wonderful local children's labels. This week in Boston Suri has been seen in seed (of which the Cruise's are big fans, having several pieces from their collection), Polka (I love all their prints!) & Mini Metalicus (who have a fabulous women's label as well). The twins! The twins! New pix of Vivienne Marcheline & Knox Leon with mama & papa Jolie Pitt - so cute but we want a closer look at little Viv!

This pic was taken by a fan at an ice cream parlour in Ammam Jordan - we want to see more, more, more of these gorgeous kids, especially little Vivienne! Side on, she looks alot like Shiloh, and Knox is even a dead ringer for his big sister - can't wait to see what style these little cherubs will have - loving the Jolie-Pitts!

Bratz Disco Party - A Dress Rehearsal - and a very special announcement - Happy Birthday Gigi!

Thanks everyone for the emails - I haven't been as consistent with my posts of late as we are renovating a new house which we hope to be moving into in a few weeks - sooooo excited! But in the meantime, we also managed to throw a farewell to the old house/birthday party for Gigi over the weekend - she wanted a Bratz Disco Party (which ended up being all about Hannah Montana anyway!) and here is a little picture of the girls at their dress rehearsal. Once we are settled into the new place, I will post all the details of the party as it is a popular theme for little wannabe rockstars! Oh, and I will have to catch up and post about Lulu's Tinkerbell party from February - whoops, thanks for reminding me : )

Jada Ellie Clijsters - a grand slam cutie in Ella Moss

Congratulations to sporty mummy Kim Clijsters who won the US Open Women's Singles title yesterday in New York. Seen here with 18 month old daughter Jada Ellie, Kim become the first mother in 29 years to win the title, the last mum to do so was Australian Evonne Goolagong Cawley. Recycled Style #2 - Big Sister Violet in her Big Sister Tee

Beautiful little Violet Affleck first wore her Big Sister tee by Pluto Kids in January when little sister Seraphina was born, seen here with her daddy, actor Ben Affleck. While shopping with mummy this week, actress Jennifer Garner, Violet matched it with some really cute sneakers (watch this space) and an adorable teddy bear on roller skates. So sweet.
Hmmm, will I need another one of these shirts soon...?

Recycled Style - Loving little Harlow in her Bonpoint Gingham Dress

With a new baby brother or sister due any day now, little Harlow Winter Kate Madden is hangin' with daddy, rocker Joel Madden at the Farmer's Market in LA. We love the Bonpoint Cylliani Dress in Gingham Indigo which Harlow first wore out with mummy Nicole Richie back in April. Such a gorgeous baby : )

Double Trouble - the O'Connell brothers with...and how cute are they....the O'Connell twins!

In the latest issue of US People magazine, Jerry O'Connell shares some personal photographs of his baby daughters with wife Rebecca Romijn - twins Charlie Tamara Tulip & Dolly Rebecca Rose. Wearing our old favourite Trumpette Mary Jane Pastels, of which Nicole Kidman & Sunday Rose are also fans, how cute are these two little cherubs, out at a baseball game with their daddy and his brother Charlie

Eco Princess Style - Think Green Kids Tee by Revenge Is...

Soleil Moon Frye, co-owner of The Little Seed, an environmentally friendly children's boutique, was seen in LA with daughters Poet & Jagger this past week, Poet wearing a really groovy Think Green Kids Tee by Revenge Is.. I found it through Inhabitots which is a really cool website whose mission is "sustainable design for the next generation" and they are a great source of information for environmentally aware parents. I look forward to having a better look through their site when I have some spare time. Being eco friendly should be at the top of our lists as parents of the future generations, who will likely be most affected by the choices we make today

Whichever way you look at it, we are living in a world that will need a little more TLC in years to come and many more designers of children's clothing and accessories are choosing to use more environmentally friendly materials in their products to help in this cause. I am starting a new feature here at gigi + lulu called Eco Princess Style which will showcase some of those designers and retailers who are helping to look after our planet for our children and their children

Mommy's High Heel Shoes - what a great idea for a book and inspiration for my new weekly shoe feature..watch this space

A friend of mine sent me the link to this book - it's called Mommy's High Heel Shoes. The illustrations are just delightful and I am thinking about getting a copy for Gigi for Christmas. It has also inspired me to start up a new weekly roundup of celebrity baby shoes which will also feature some fantastic children's footwear designers from around the world. I have lots of shoe featured blogs in the "Funky Little Feet" category, including some pretty Australian designs worn by Suri Cruise in her stay here in Australia. UPDATE: Thanks Stardust, the pink ballet flats are actually from Seed and not Monsoon as I mentioned previously - Katie Holmes is a fan of Seed, having shopped up a storm in the Australian boutique this week so no doubt we will see Suri wearing some more of their collection during her stay here in Australia. I am a big fan of Seed and Stardust, though I agree they are a very close match for the Monsoon pair, in fashion there are, and will always be designs with similar styles and construction and Seed wouldn't be the first label to be accused of having something similar to another label. Yummy Mummy - Camila Alves in Yumi Kim

Sick of the boring tent dresses that you see in maternity boutiques? Yes, you know the ones - those that could house a three ring circus underneath in colours so blah, you would blend in on a rainy day? My policy was simple when I was heavily pregnant during the warmer months - NO TENT DRESSES! Instead, I was a big fan of the babydoll dress, as well as strapless, elasticized dresses that grew with my tummy. In particular I had a hot pink Charlie Brown strapless dress that I practically lived in. While browsing around the web this week, I came across this photo of Matthew McConaughey's partner and baby mumma Camila Alves - what an absolutely stunning dress! Heirloom Christening Dresses - a continuing trend

I was reading in the newspaper this week the lovely story behind the christening dress worn by Bert & Patti Newton's granddaughter Eva Eunice Welsh, baby daughter of Lauren Newton and her husband, Olympic swimming champion Matthew Welsh. The dress the three month old little princess was christened in was worn by her mummy 30 years ago and was sent in to Bert & Patti by a listener of their radio show back then. Patti loved the dress so much she dressed Lauren in it and now little Eva continues the tradition. I think this is a lovely story and wanted to share ours with you as well. Gigi was christened in the summer months wearing an embroidered christening gown made by me for my Year 10 major assignment when I was just 16 years old. I remember vividly embroidering the green and gold flowers wondering if my future baby boy or girl may wear this dress one day. It was a proud day to see little Gigi wearing it, I must say. Alternatively, baby Lulu was christened in the winter months and she wore a knitted christening gown that I wore as a baby and the dainty lace bonnet was given to me by my grandmother many years ago when we were going through some old fabrics and lace tablecloths and I fell in love with it. Needless to say my mum was chuffed on both occasions. Both my little girls' dresses were of sentimental value to me and I would say Patti & Lauren felt the same on little Eva's christening day

3.1 Phillip Lim Spring 2009 at Barneys New York

I am a big fan of this designer - 3.1 Phillip Lim has some beautiful looks in his Spring 2009 collection at Barneys New York. They don't stock the Tank Dress with Lace in Sand at Barneys, but you can see it on the 3.1 Phillip Lim website - a gorgeous, simplistic little dress in a neutral colour for your little princess. And I also love the Hooded Rain Slicker in Navy - looks like a mini version of a grown up trench coat. So many fashions, so little time : )

Online Boutique Critique - Punk-N-Pie - Sweet tHreads for Little Punks

While sourcing the cute drum kit t-shirt worn by Coco Arquette, I have stumbled upon funky kids online boutique Punk-N-Pie. Now you know I am always on the look out for beautiful little fashions and accessories for little princesses, but in this case I have found some cool stuff for beautiful little rock princesses! Coco is wearing the Jeeto Band T (currently only available in Black) but you can get the pink version for your mini groupies in a Jeeto Band Onesie. Another fave of mine is the tshirt that says: "I am at Peace with Being a Princess" - so cute!
